iCloud + will bring support for custom domain names to iCloud Mail

Apple’s grand opening keynote at WWDC saw a ton of things announced yesterday with iCloud + just one of them. The new name for paid tiers of iCloud brings its own new features, including one that was not announced at this event – support for custom domain names when using iCloud Mail.

The characteristic is mentioned on the IOS 15 overview page on Apple’s website, but that’s all we’ve got. This Is It does look promising, however, with Apple also noting that we’ll be able to invite other people to use the same domain on their iCloud email accounts as well.

Adding support for custom domains could be a game-changer for many, especially those who have had to use Google and Microsoft products when they prefer to use Apple’s.

We don’t know more at this point and there doesn’t appear to be an interface to this in the initial beta of iOS 15 that I can find. However, it’s still early days and Apple will undoubtedly add – and remove! – things as we move through the long and winding beta process.
